Frequently Asked Questions

What does the service call fee include?

  • The trip to the location of the appliance and 30 minutes of diagnostic time

Is there an hourly rate beyond the initial diagnosis or for unknown circumstances?

  • Yes. The hourly rate is $100 per hour

  • This most often comes into effect with specialty brands that have uncommon service procedures

Is the service call fee waived with repair?

  • It is not. The service call fee stands alone to cover the cost of travel and diagnostic time

  • Further labor and parts for a repair are in addition to the service call fee

Do you do flat rate pricing and why?

  • Yes. Similar to vehicle repair, many appliance repairs are tracked and priced using a national pricing guide to aid both the business and the customer with expectations around the cost of repair.

  • Flat rate pricing is done as a way to keep things fair for both customer and technician. As an example, the first few times a job is done may take a couple hours or more and it wouldn’t be fair to bill a full hourly rate when some of the time is learning how to do the job. But on the flip side, common jobs that are done many times allow the tech to become efficient at the task; so at a certain point, a shorter job complete time if billed by the hour becomes a penalty for the gained expertise.

What if I don’t know if it is even worth fixing?

  • No worries. Send me an email with as much information as possible and I will share what I know about the particular model and give my recommendation.

Can you fix any appliance problem?

  • As someone who used to work on complex medical imaging devices, I can fix a lot. Almost anything. But when it comes to refrigeration gases, those services require a special license and tools that come with a refrigeration specialist.

Would you like to hear a suggestion I have?

  • Of course! I’m always looking for ways to improve my ability to serve. Feel free to send me an email with any ideas you have for improvement for anything from the website to the service delivery.
